Artist Statement
Roy has a natural affinity for lush and mysterious forests, verdant mountains and dancing rivers in the foothills of the Himalayas. His landscapes have their origin in intense and lucid encounters with nature, his paintings never confine to mere pictorial evocations of the spaces that are a part of his being and memory. Shot with a playful mix of warmth and quirky intuition, it transmutes the specificity of locations into spaces of absorption. They are, what may seem to some viewers, primarily about responding visually to the depths of awareness that nature brings about in sensitive souls.
